Welcome to the ALPHAHOOPS family!


1. What is ALPHAHOOPS?


ALPHAHOOPS is the AAU or Travel-Basketball division of ALPHA BASKETBALL ACADEMY (ABA). We focus on skill development and teamwork by providing opportunities to compete in AAU tournaments across South Texas and beyond. AAU stands for the Amateur Athletic Union. It's a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that offers kids and teens a way to compete against the best athletes across the country.


2. What age groups do you serve?


We offer teams for boys and girls in grades 3 through 12:

• Elementary Teams: Grades 3–5

• Junior High Teams: Grades 6–8

• High School Teams: Grades 9–12


Each division participates in age-appropriate activities.


3. What is the cost and what do the fees cover?


The ABA AAU season costs $750 and includes:


✅ Professional and fully background checked staff 

✅ USA Basketball certified coaches
✅ ABA All-Access Membership  ($600 Value)

      **NOTE** During the AAU Season, Feb - July.

✅ Uniform: Jerseys, Gear Bag, & Warm-Up Jersey

✅ AAU membership fees

✅ Tournament entry fees

✅ Gym rentals and practice facilities

✅ Weekly practices and training sessions

4. Are scholarships or financial aid available?


Yes, we offer scholarships based on availability. Additionally, each athlete receives a fundraising packet through our AlphaCares program to help offset their $750 tuition by connecting with local businesses to sponsor their athlete.


5. What is the time commitment level for travel basketball?


• Elementary Teams (Grades 3–5):

Games Played: April–July, participating in 3–5 one-day tournaments within a 2-hour drive.

• Junior High & High School Teams (Grades 6–12):

Games Played: March–July, with 7–9 tournaments, including local and national-level events, such as those in Dallas or Las Vegas for competitive teams.

6. How do I register my athlete?

7. Do you provide training outside of team practices?


Yes! We offer  group and individual training sessions to help athletes improve their skills. Alpha Basketball Academy is a year-round training program for basketball athletes grades 3rd - 12th. As an added bonus, all ALPHAHOOPS athletes get a FREE  All-Access Membership to Alpha Basketball Academy and can attend any sessions through their Spring/Summer season (February - July).

Elementary - Fundamental's Class (FREE)

Junior High - Level 1 ($25/session)

High School - Level 2 ($25/session)

All-Access Membership - $100 Monthly subscription to unlimited access to 15 + Level 1 & Level 2 sessions (Approx. $7/session)


Private Training Sessions (Up to 2 Athletes)

8. Can the $750 Tuition be paid in installments?


Yes! And there are TWO different Installment Payment Schedules:


Elementary & J-High
January 27th - Payment #1 ($250)

February 10th - Payment #2 ($250)

March 3rd - Payment #3 ($250)


HIGH SCHOOL
February 17th - Payment #1 ($250)

March 3rd - Payment #2 ($250)

March 17th - Payment #3 ($250)


9. How do I get involved as a parent or sponsor?


We encourage parents to be actively involved in their athlete’s journey! You can:

• Support your athlete by participating in fundraising efforts.

• Become an AlphaCares sponsor or connect your business with us to support young athletes.

10. When and where are tryouts held?


Tryouts Times

• Round 1: January 25th for grades 3–8

• Round 2: February 15th for grades 9–12
