OUR TEAM
Eli Sauseda is a visionary leader with a deep passion for developing leaders and helping organizations meet their objectives through teamwork and operations management. For over 25 years, Eli has served in both the nonprofit and business and sectors mentoring leaders and coaching others personally and professionally. His heart is to see people find their perfect fit within their current team and produce record breaking results as they achieve goals and set new standards for excellence. Eli Sauseda began coaching Junior High boys and girls in 1997, and after a failed search for a coach to training his little boy, Maxwell, decided to partner with the legendary Coach Jesse Ortega to create something that would be both high-level yet affordable for every family in the Crossroads area. We believe no athlete should be left behind! Eli's approach and skill set revolve around the ability to take complex basketball skills and break them down into simple steps resulting in proper technique and fundamentals. It is with great respect for the game of basketball and gratefulness to the families that Eli believes every player can use the game to learn integrity, character, and leadership as they train like they have never won and play like they have never lost.
Former Memorial High School (MHS) point guard, Jesse Ortega, is the co-founder of Alpha Basketball Academy with a heart to provide elite basketball training affordable to every player. In 2003, Jesse, a standout point guard, played Varsity basketball for Coach John Grammar and compiled a 30-6 record along with taking Texas 6A Memorial High School to the first ever State Tournament Final Four playoff appearance. Later in the Summer of 2007, Jesse had the opportunity to train with NFL and professional and Olympic Sprinter, Mitch Mason, who he credits with teaching him the foundations of his sports training philosophies. Jesse was recruited to play Division 1 NAIA basketball at Southwestern Assemblies of God (S.A.G.U) in Waxahachie, TX, as well as Bacone University in Muskogee, OK, but decided to pursue a career is Sports Psychology to help young athletes reach their highest playing potential. Along with playing, Jesse has also coached at the Junior High, Freshman, JV, Head Varsity, and Head College Coach at Victoria College. Jesse is currently a certified personal trainer and carries both a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Psychology both from the University of Houston-Victoria. His approach to training has been centered around the idea that every player can take the game of basketball and apply lessons to help them excel in everyday life.
